Happy Baby

As you can tell from the video, Wren is a talkative, happy baby. We have so much fun at home! She is grabbing her feet, laughing and becoming more vocal everyday. Our best times of fun are still on the changing table. I don't know why she loves it so much, but it's a great place to play!

Couch Potato!

Ok, I promise we are not horrible parents. Our child just loves TV!!! If it is on in the room, she will turn her head as far as possible to catch a glimpse. I used to watch TV while I was nursing, but no more. I have to keep the TV off all day or she will completely ignore me!!! We do let her watch "So You Think You Can Dance?" but that is all. She will pretty much watch the 2 hour show start to finish. We do get up and move around and play with her during commercials, but she is really more interested in the TV. Brance did an experiment once to see how much she was addicted. The TV was on and he was talking to her. She kept turning toward the TV so he turned her completely around. She cried until he turned her back to the TV. Sad, I know. Good news that has come out of this- She LOVES books!!! I can read her a whole story and her eyes are glued to the pictures. She also loves BabyPraise (It's like Baby Einstein but with praise music). It was given to us by Brance's Aunt Page and Uncle Donnie and she loves to watch it. I try to keep it to a minimum since she is so little, but its nice every once in a while. I hope you enjoy the pictures of her watching TV...

So many changes, such a short amount of time!

I cannot believe a month has passed since my last post! Wren has changed so much since then! Some of the new, fun things she has discovered are her exersaucer, hands, toes, how to get out of a nap, her neck, how to grasp things, TV, how to laugh, even more "talking" and her legs (she can now straighten her body and stand for long periods of time). She is sooo much fun!!!! She keeps me busy though because the child does NOT like to nap! Bedtime is fantastic- I feed her and lay her in her crib wide awake around 9:30 and within 5 minutes, she is fast asleep. She usually sleeps until around 7:30am. Not a problem. Naps, however, are a different story. I feed her and lay her down- she screams until she is picked up. She then promply falls asleep in my arms. I get my hopes up. Maybe she will actually take a nap. But, alas, the moment that little body hits the crib, swing, mom and dad's bed, bouncy chair, car seat, etc., the eyes pop open and the mouth starts screaming. So, I pick her up.... This cycle continue ALL DAY! Yeah for nap time!!! I have all but given up. I try to at least get in one nap, so I hold her. I know, bad parenting move, but I don't care. I am not a stay at home mom for nothing! I figure that as long as she is my first and there are no other kids or a job demanding my attention, I am going to hold my baby. It is such a sweet time and I know there will come a day when I can't hold her like I do now. Having a baby is such a treasured time- so short, and so precious. I know there are days when I will feel like it is going to last forever, but for now, I am enjoying every second.

Smiling Baby

I finally caught some smiles on camera! As you can tell from the footage, Wren loves to be on her changing table. We have had some great playtime there!

Got Milk?

Wren's newest accomplishment is holding her bottle. I don't think she did it on purpose, but it was so cute! I hope you enjoy the video and picture!

Wren's First 4th of July

We celebrated the 4th of July on Thursday by going to Lone Star Park with our young adult ministry. We set up our blankets, watched a couple of horse races (no, we did not bet on anything :), and visited with friends. Wren kind of napped and ate. She really enjoyed being outside and around lots of new things and people. Finallly, it was time for the fireworks. We settled down onto our blanket and Wren watched the 20 minute display intently! She seemed to love it!

One of my dear friends, Lauryn got married on the 4th of July. She had a beautiful outdoor wedding in Azle. We took Wren and thankfully, she was a perfect angel! She was wide awake the whole ceremony but didn't make a peep (well, she tried to make a peep and we gave her a bottle :). During the dinner and dance, she slept for a little while and then allowed a friend to hold her while Brance and I danced to a couple of songs. We had a lot of fun and were so proud of Wren!

Dads are the Best!

Victory for Dad! I had been having trouble getting Wren down for her morning nap. By the time she was fed and changed, she seemed hungry again. She was fussy and I knew she was tired but just couldn't figure out why she kept acting hungry. We had had some feeding issues in the past, so I just figured she wasn't getting enough. I would feed her again, change her again, and the awful cycle would go on until 2 pm- no morning nap achieved... Enter Dad! Saturday morning, we were beginning the cycle again. She was fussy and I was making breakfast, so I asked Brance to pick her up and see if he could get her to sleep or see if she needed a bottle. A few minutes later, fussiness stopped and I went to check on them. She was fast asleep in her swing! I asked Brance the secret to his success. He said that he put her in her swing, held a pacifier in her mouth for a few minutes and she fell asleep. Glory be!!! He got our baby to sleep in about 2 minutes and it had taken me hours!!! I use the "Brance method" now after morning feedings and she is out for about 2 or 2 and a half hours. God knew what He was doing when He gave kids a mom and a dad!
